Allison Hughes

I am thrilled to be the 5th grade RLA Special Education teacher at Sloan Creek Intermediate School and excited about what we will accomplish together in the coming year.   

The 2023-2024 school year will be my 7th year in education and 1st year with Lovejoy ISD. I spent the past three years teaching 4th grade as a Special Education teacher at Eanes Elementary school in Eanes ISD outside of Austin. For the two years prior to that, I was living in Fort Collins, Colorado and working as a Special Education assistant after teaching two years in Dallas ISD. I have my bachelor of arts in Elementary EC-6th and Special Education EC-12 from Asbury University which is located in the small town of Wilmore, KY, right outside of Lexington. 

I grew up in Southlake and I come from a long line of Texans, but moved to Frisco at the beginning of the summer with my mini bernedoodle named Aspen who is 1.5 years old. My significant other of 3.5 years, named Justin, also lives in Frisco. In our free time we love to be outside, hiking, swimming, paddle boarding, etc. I enjoy trying new restaurants of all genres, but I could live off of tacos. My summer highlights include going to Boston, Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard over the week of 4th of July and reconnecting with friends and family in the DFW area. 

I am committed to upholding the Lovejoy standard of excellence in education and preparing our 5th students for secondary school and beyond. Thank you for entrusting me and the rest of the staff with your children and partnering with us to provide a wonderful experience for all.
