I've worked for thirteen fulfilling years as an ELAR teacher, and I love every minute! I grew up in
Plano, and went on to graduate with a degree in Literature from The University of North Texas. I taught 6th and 7th grade ELAR in Plano ISD for ten years, and in the 2015-16 school year, I earned the honor of becoming the 5th GT ELAR teacher for Lovejoy ISD, at Sloan Creek. My two boys are Leopards as well, and I've never been so thrilled!
I have a background in Reading and English curriculum development, workshop creation to support writing skills, and experience in presenting professional development sections to ELAR educators and educators from other disciplines. I believe that my students can do anything that they believe they can do, and I believe that their potential is limitless! My favorite authors include, (but are not limited to;) E.L. Konigsburg, Jerry Spinelli, Sharon Creech, AVI, Maggie Stiefvater, J.K. Rowling, Rick Riordan, and Veronica Roth. I passionately feel that life-long readers are life-long learners, and strive to nurture a true love of literature in each of the students I have the pleasure of teaching.
I generally spend my time outside of the classroom with my husband; chasing my two sons, (Charlie and Clay,) enjoying outdoor activities, READING, gardening, doing DIY projects, and creating cute things for my classroom .
