How did I get here?
After graduating from Belmont University in Nashville, TN, I taught 5th-6th grade music for 2 years. My husband and I were ready to find jobs in Texas where we were hired in McKinney in 1998! We moved here, and I taught elementary music for 6 more years at Reuben Johnson, Wilmeth, and Kent Elementary in Carrollton. I also directed children's choirs at Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church in Allen. I opened a piano studio in my home in 2010 and continue to teach. In addition to being the library tech aide at SCIS, I love teaching English online to Chinese students.
My husband, David, is a varsity football assistant at Grand Prairie High School. He has been in education for 22 years. We have two boys, Sullivan (14) who attends McKinney Boyd HS, and Sam (18) who will be a freshman at Samford University in Birmingham, AL. We love being outdoors as a family - at the lake, camping, or watching/playing sports.
I believe in strong communication between students and their learning community. This year, I want to make myself available for the SCIS family to be able to support all forms of literacy and promote the love of reading.
